The agricultural college of Obernai has 65 hectares of mixed farmland and a herd of 160 cattle.
Since 2013, the digester in the college has been transforming organic matter from agricultural, urban and industrial waste such as liquid and solid manure, and grape residue from its operations and from other local energy companies.
The plant is designed to process 8,000 tonnes per year.
Qualitative benefits
This digester can locally convert bio-waste produced by the project partners.
This is a fine example of local synergies benefiting the environment.
