  • Type of initiative : Individual initiative (company, etc.)
  • Principalement régionale
  • Le Village 38114 Oz en Oisans
  • Start date : janvier 2018
  • End date : juin 2019

To carry out its activity, the company contacts those who sell or donate collection equipment, proposing repair solutions (including for end-of-life equipment), and those who are looking for such equipment, offering to find the right equipment for their needs.

The aim of the initiative is to provide a technical solution adapted to customer specifications while offering economically viable re-use equipment.

For example, the company was able to help the Bièvre inter-communal authority in its search for a used horizontal baler to replace equipment that had reached the end of its service life.

Qualitative benefits

This solution helps reduce equipment costs (for local authorities and businesses) and test certain equipment before developing it on a larger scale.

In addition, it helps to reduce the carbon footprint and to save resources by replacing new equipment with second-hand. Repackaging and repairing equipment rather than disposing of it avoids the need for transportation, recycling and manufacturing new products.

This initiative is part of the territorial climate plan actions. Acquiring re-use equipment means that local authorities can set the example by initiating sustainable purchasing.

The products on offer are generally more durable because old designs are generally more robust ... and allow substantial savings on purchase as well as maintenance costs.

This initiative is one of the solutions to reduce wastage of the limited resources available to us: “Scarcity of resources can be managed; we can only suffer shortage” (quoted from Nicolas Hulot)

Stages of the initiative

January 2018 - creation of Complementerre 38

The company has a long experience in the waste business.

Reuse requires a critical mass of users. This approach is a pioneering one in the field: the more people use the service, the more diversified the offer.

The immediate availability of large stocks of equipment means that it can be delivered very quickly.
