How digital traceability will enable data collection to support today's world sustainable challenges?
Prominent illicit trades, unethical production practices, fragile supply chains and environmental impacts have put industries under immense pressure from customers and governments to follow sustainable production means.
Our world of hyper connectivity and information accessibility is fostering a consumer cultural switch: from storytelling to story proving. Traceability has emerged as a prime requirement to enable visibility and caters to the consumer requirements of transparency and quality assurance while institutions are looking to secure ethics and sustainability requirements. The digital track and trace eco-system developed in the framework of the EU Tobacco Product Directive as well as the EU Digital Product Passport initiatives are examples of implementations to reach safer, cleaner and sustainable cities for citizens by valuing data collected along product life cycles.
