I am presently working as an independent researcher and consultant on analytical aspects related to climate change economics and inclusive green growth. My locations shift between Bucharest and Paris. My core expertise is in energy, climate, development policy analysis, and the economics of inclusive green growth, incorporating dimensions related to the circular economy. I have worked, for more than a decade, in both academia and the policy environment. I am keen to contribute towards bridging the gap between science and research, on one hand, and policy, business and practice, on the other hand. I am also open to working on or collaborating with various partners or stakeholders on circular economy issues.
My most recent position (which just ended in Novemberr 2016) was that of a policy officer and economic analyst at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Energy in Brussels, Belgium. My overall role was to contribute to the economic analysis of EU energy-related policies, with an emphasis on macroeconomics, innovation, finance, and policy modelling and scenario analysis. Other previous positions included: Reader (economics for sustainability) with the Natural Resources Institute at the University of Greenwich in London; Project Manager (climate economics and policy) with UNEP in Paris; Senior Research Associate (climate-economy modelling) with the University of Cambridge, and Research Associate (trade policy and sustainability impact assessment) with The University of Manchester, Institute for Development Policy and Management.
I have published several articles in respected peer-reviewed journals, books chapters and technical reports, and single-authored a book on agricultural economics and sustainability. I obtained my PhD degree from The University of Manchester (UK) in 2005 and an MA degree in 2001 in Development Economics from the University of Sussex (UK).
